विदितं वेदितव्यं ते न शोकं कर्तुम् अर्हसि ॥

"Here are all your brothers, downcast, O best of Bharatas, while you are overcome with sorrow — and kings, and your friends. Comfort them with a kindly word, O honorer. You know all that must be known — it is not proper for you to grieve."

Krishna heals grief by turning it into good deeds for others: "etān… samāśvāsaya", "comfort them" — drawing Arjuna away from himself to his dejected brothers and friends. The leader's sorrow multiplies the sorrow of all: "tvayi śokasamāviṣṭe" — when he is broken, the rest are downcast too. "Viditaṃ veditavyaṃ te", "you know all that must be known", is a reminder that one who knows dharma has no right to give way to despair. It is telling that the best remedy for one's own pain is care for another's. The verse teaches that one who has known the truth must not sink into grief but become a support for those grieving around him.
