अन्यत्र वासुदेवाद् वा ज्येष्टाद् वा पाण्डुनन्दनात् ॥

na smāśakyata bībhatsuḥ kena cit prasamīkṣitum ||
tam antakam iva kruddhaṃ niḥśvasantaṃ muhur muhuḥ ||
putraśokābhisaṃtaptam aśrupūrṇamukhaṃ tadā ||
nābhibhāṣṭuṃ śaknuvanti draṣṭuṃ vā suhṛdo 'rjunam ||
anyatra vāsudevād vā jyeṣṭād vā pāṇḍunandanāt ||
Having spoken thus, standing with his good sword bared, Bibhatsu became such that no one could even look at him. At him, like furious Antaka, sighing over and over, burning with grief for his son, his face drenched in tears -- his friends dared neither speak to him nor look at Arjuna, save for Vasudeva or the eldest of the sons of Pandu.

Grief here clothes itself in a terror almost divine: "antakam iva kruddham", "like wrathful Antaka" -- and none dares to look or speak. Yet the verse at once names an exception: "anyatra vasudevat... jyeshthad va pandunandanat" -- only Krishna and Yudhishthira may draw near. It is telling that only the embodiment of the Lord and the embodiment of dharma (the King of Dharma) are granted access to one maddened by grief. The verse teaches that there are abysses of sorrow and wrath into which only two may descend: divine love and righteousness -- and to them alone is entrusted the healing.
