यः सदेवान् सगन्धर्वान् दैत्यांश् चैकरथो ऽजयत् ॥
तस्य लक्ष्म न पश्यामि भीमसेनानुजस्य ते ॥
ततो ऽब्रवीद् धर्मराजं भीमसेनस् तथागतम् ॥
नैवाद्राक्षं न चाश्रौषं तव कश्मलम् ईदृशम् ॥
पुरा हि दुःखदीर्णानां भवान् गतिर् अभूद् धि नः ॥
उत्तिष्ठोत्तिष्ठ राजेन्द्र शाधि किं करवाणि ते ॥
न ह्य् असाध्यम् अकार्यं वा विद्यते मम मानद ॥
आज्ञापय कुरुश्रेष्ठ मा च शोके मनः कृथाः ॥
yaḥ sadevān sagandharvān daityāṃś caikaratho 'jayat ||
tasya lakṣma na paśyāmi bhīmasenānujasya te ||
tato 'bravīd dharmarājaṃ bhīmasenas tathāgatam ||
naivādrākṣaṃ na cāśrauṣaṃ tava kaśmalam īdṛśam ||
purā hi duḥkhadīrṇānāṃ bhavān gatir abhūd dhi naḥ ||
uttiṣṭhottiṣṭha rājendra śādhi kiṃ karavāṇi te ||
na hy asādhyam akāryaṃ vā vidyate mama mānada ||
ājñāpaya kuruśreṣṭha mā ca śoke manaḥ kṛthāḥ ||
"He who overcame the gods, the gandharvas, and the daityas single-handed on one chariot — of him, of Bhimasena your younger brother, I do not see the [former] sign." Then Bhimasena spoke to the King of Dharma, who had fallen into such a state: "Never have I seen nor heard of such despondency in you. For of old, to us torn by sorrow, you were our refuge. Arise, arise, O lord of kings, command what I am to do for you."

Bhima lifts up the disheartened king: "bhavān gatir abhūt hi naḥ", you were our refuge — now it is the brother's turn to lend support. It is telling that within a family love is mutual: one who strengthened others in the past may in turn be strengthened by them. The verse teaches that a brother's support is not one-directional: whoever was a refuge for others finds, in his own hour of weakness, support in those he once strengthened — for love returns to its source.
