स्मरामि तानि सर्वाणि बाल्ये वृत्तानि यानि नौ ॥
तानि सर्वाणि जीर्णानि सांप्रतं नौ रणाजिरे ॥
किम् अन्यत् क्रोधलोभाभ्यां युध्यामि त्वाद्य सात्वत ॥
तं तथावादिनं राजन् सात्यकिः प्रत्यभाषत ॥
प्रहसन् विशिखांस् तीक्ष्णान् उद्यम्य परमास्त्रवित् ॥
नेयं सभा राजपुत्र न चाचार्यनिवेशनम् ॥
यत्र क्रीडितम् अस्माभिस् तदा राजन् समागतैः ॥

smarāmi tāni sarvāṇi bālye vṛttāni yāni nau ||
tāni sarvāṇi jīrṇāni sāṃprataṃ nau raṇājire ||
kim anyat krodhalobhābhyāṃ yudhyāmi tvādya sātvata ||
taṃ tathāvādinaṃ rājan sātyakiḥ pratyabhāṣata ||
prahasan viśikhāṃs tīkṣṇān udyamya paramāstravit ||
neyaṃ sabhā rājaputra na cācāryaniveśanam ||
yatra krīḍitam asmābhis tadā rājan samāgataiḥ ||

Traducción

'I remember all that was ours in childhood; all that has grown old — now ours is the field of battle. What else, but out of wrath and greed, do I fight with you now, O Satvata?' To him, thus speaking, O king, Satyaki replied, smiling, raising sharp arrows, master of the highest weapons: 'This is not the assembly, O prince, nor the teacher's house, where we played then, O king, having come together as children.'
