अनुवाद

Vidura: He is deemed wise whom neither anger, nor joy, nor pride, nor false modesty, nor stupor, nor vanity can turn aside from the high aims of life. He whose intentions and proposed counsels remain hidden from his enemies, and whose actions become known only after they have been accomplished, is deemed wise. He whose intended actions are never hindered by heat or cold, by fear, by attachment, by prosperity or by adversity, is deemed wise. He whose judgment, detached from desire, follows both virtue and profit, and who, disregarding pleasure, chooses such ends as are beneficial in both worlds, is deemed wise. Those are called wise who make every effort and act with all their strength, neglecting nothing as insignificant. He who understands quickly, listens patiently, pursues his aims with judgment rather than out of desire, and does not waste his breath on the affairs of others uninvited, is deemed to possess the highest mark of wisdom. Those who do not strive after unattainable objects, who do not grieve over what is lost and gone, and who do not let their minds become clouded amid calamities, are deemed to possess an intellect endowed with wisdom.
