व्यूहं दृष्ट्वा सुपर्णं तु भारद्वाजकृतं तदा ॥
व्यूहेन मण्डलार्धेन प्रत्यव्यूहद् युधिष्ठिरः ॥
मुखम् आसीत् सुपर्णस्य भारद्वाजो महारथः ॥
शिरो दुर्योधनो राजा सोदर्यैः सानुगैः सह ॥
चक्षुषी कृतवर्मा च गौतमश् चास्यतां वरः ॥
भूतवर्मा क्षेमशर्मा करकर्षश् च वीर्यवान् ॥

vyūhaṃ dṛṣṭvā suparṇaṃ tu bhāradvājakṛtaṃ tadā ||
vyūhena maṇḍalārdhena pratyavyūhad yudhiṣṭhiraḥ ||
mukham āsīt suparṇasya bhāradvājo mahārathaḥ ||
śiro duryodhano rājā sodaryaiḥ sānugaiḥ saha ||
cakṣuṣī kṛtavarmā ca gautamaś cāsyatāṃ varaḥ ||
bhūtavarmā kṣemaśarmā karakarṣaś ca vīryavān ||

अनुवाद

Beholding the formation in the shape of Suparna-Garuda, built by Drona, Yudhishthira drew up a counter-array in the shape of a "half-circle." The beak of that Garuda was Drona himself, the great charioteer; the head was King Duryodhana with his own brothers and retinue; the two eyes were Kritavarman and Gautama-Kripa, the very foremost of bowmen, [along with] Bhutavarman, Kshemasharman, and the valorous Karakarsha.
