सर्वार्थसाधकं पुण्यं सर्वकिल्बिषनाशनम् ॥
सर्वपापप्रशमनं सर्वदुःखभयापहम् ॥
चतुर्विधम् इदं स्तोत्रं यः शृणोति नरः सदा ॥
विजित्य सर्वाञ् शत्रून् स रुद्रलोके महीयते ॥
चरितं महात्मनो दिव्यं सांग्रामिकम् इदं शुभम् ॥
पठन् वै शतरुद्रीयं शृण्वंश् च सततोत्थितः ॥
sarvārthasādhakaṃ puṇyaṃ sarvakilbiṣanāśanam ||
sarvapāpapraśamanaṃ sarvaduḥkhabhayāpaham ||
caturvidham idaṃ stotraṃ yaḥ śṛṇoti naraḥ sadā ||

Vyasa proclaims the fruit of this praise: the Shatarudriya destroys impurity, quells sins, drives away fear -- and lifts one to the world of Rudra. It is significant that here the hymn of praise is not mere praise but a purifying and saving act. The verse teaches that reverent remembrance of the Supreme transforms the one who remembers; and one who listens to the glorification of God with diligence is purified and rises -- for hearing turned toward the sacred itself becomes a path upward.
