Dhrishtadyumna said: 'I shall slay Drona, Shikhandin shall slay Bhishma, Bhimasena shall slay Duryodhana, and Dhananjaya shall slay Karna. Relying on Rama and Krishna, we are unconquerable even by Indra, how much less then by the sons of Dhritarashtra.' Vaishampayana said: 'When this had been spoken, the heroes turned toward Vasudeva, and among them mighty-armed Keshava spoke these words.'

Dhrishtadyumna's words translate Draupadi's lament into the outline of the reckoning to come. Each main knot of adharma is given its executor, yet the ground of this confidence lies not in the warriors' strength alone but in refuge taken in Balarama and Krishna.
