ततो ऽपरेण भल्लेन पीतेन निशितेन च ॥
अस्यतो वृष्णिवीरस्य निचकर्त शरासनम् ॥
सात्यकिं छिन्नधन्वानं प्रहसन्न् इव भारत ॥
अविध्यन् मागधो वीरः पञ्चभिर् निशितैः शरैः ॥
स विद्धो बहुभिर् बाणैर् जलसंधेन वीर्यवान् ॥
नाकम्पत महाबाहुस् तद् अद्भुतम् इवाभवत् ॥
tato 'pareṇa bhallena pītena niśitena ca ||
asyato vṛṣṇivīrasya nicakarta śarāsanam ||
sātyakiṃ chinnadhanvānaṃ prahasann iva bhārata ||
avidhyan māgadho vīraḥ pañcabhir niśitaiḥ śaraiḥ ||
sa viddho bahubhir bāṇair jalasaṃdhena vīryavān ||
nākampata mahābāhus tad adbhutam ivābhavat ||
Then with another yellow, sharpened broad-headed arrow, [Jalasandha] cut the bow [of] the Vrishni hero, shooting arrows. Satyaki, [with] his bow cut, as if laughing, o Bharata, the Magadhan hero pierced with five sharp arrows. He, pierced by many arrows of Jalasandha, the valiant one, did not tremble, the mighty-armed — that became like a wonder.

Satyaki "na akampata," did not tremble under the hail of arrows — "tat adbhutam," and this was deemed a wonder. His steadiness is the fruit not of bodily strength alone, but of firmness of spirit resting on a just cause and love for a friend. It is telling that the epic marvels not at the force of the blow but at the steadfastness of the one who receives it. The verse teaches that the greatest marvel of valor is not to strike but to endure: unwavering under blows, without flinching, surpasses any victorious thrust, for it manifests the strength of spirit, not of the arm alone.
