हस्तप्राप्तम् अहं मन्ये सांप्रतं सव्यसाचिनम् ॥
निर्जित्य दुर्धरं द्रोणं सपदानुगम् आहवे ॥
हार्दिक्यं योधवर्यं च प्राप्तं मन्ये धनंजयम् ॥
न हि मे जायते त्रासो दृष्ट्वा सैन्यान्य् अनेकशः ॥
वह्नेर् इव प्रदीप्तस्य ग्रीष्मे शुष्कं तृणोलपम् ॥
hastaprāptam ahaṃ manye sāṃprataṃ savyasācinam ||
nirjitya durdharaṃ droṇaṃ sapadānugam āhave ||
hārdikyaṃ yodhavaryaṃ ca prāptaṃ manye dhanaṃjayam ||
na hi me jāyate trāso dṛṣṭvā sainyāny anekaśaḥ ||
vahner iva pradīptasya grīṣme śuṣkaṃ tṛṇolapam ||
"Now Savyasachin [Arjuna] I deem [already] attained, [as if in] hand, having conquered the hard-to-conquer Drona with [his] followers in battle, and the son of Hridika, foremost of warriors; I deem Dhananjaya attained. For fear does not arise [in] me, seeing the numerous armies."

"Na hi me jāyate trāsaḥ" -- no fear arises in me before the multitude of armies: his fearlessness comes from nearness to the goal and from love for a friend. It is telling that one drawn toward what is dear does not reckon obstacles. The verse teaches that love and a clear goal banish fear: for one whose heart is already at the desired goal, the terror of the opposing multitude fades, for longing for a friend is stronger than fear of enemies.
