शनैर् विश्रम्भयन्न् अश्वान् याहि यत्तो ऽरिवाहिनीम् ॥
यत्रैते सतनुत्राणाः सुयोधनपुरोगमाः ॥
दंशिताः क्रूरकर्माणः काम्बोजा युद्धदुर्मदाः ॥
शरबाणासनधरा यवनाश् च प्रहारिणः ॥
शकाः किराता दरदा बर्बरास् ताम्रलिप्तकाः ॥
अन्ये च बहवो म्लेच्छा विविधायुधपाणयः ॥
माम् एवाभिमुखाः सर्वे तिष्ठन्ति समरार्थिनः ॥
एतान् सरथनागाश्वान् निहत्याजौ सपत्तिनः ॥
इदं दुर्गं महाघोरं तीर्णम् एवोपधारय ॥

yatraite satanutrāṇāḥ suyodhanapurogamāḥ ||
daṃśitāḥ krūrakarmāṇaḥ kāmbojā yuddhadurmadāḥ ||
śarabāṇāsanadharā yavanāś ca prahāriṇaḥ ||
śakāḥ kirātā daradā barbarās tāmraliptakāḥ ||
anye ca bahavo mlecchā vividhāyudhapāṇayaḥ ||
mām evābhimukhāḥ sarve tiṣṭhanti samarārthinaḥ ||
etān sarathanāgāśvān nihatyājau sapattinaḥ ||
idaṃ durgaṃ mahāghoraṃ tīrṇam evopadhāraya ||
"Unhurried, giving the horses rest, drive, prepared, [against] the enemy host, where these, [in] armor, [led] by Suyodhana, mailed, cruel in deed, the Kambojas, frenzied in battle, bearing arrows [and] bows, and the Yavanas, smiting; the Shakas, Kiratas, Daradas, Barbaras, Tamraliptakas, and other numerous mlecchas, [with] various weapons in hand. Having slain these, with chariots, elephants, horses, together with the infantry, in battle, consider this most terrible fortress [already] crossed."

Satyaki chooses no detour, but bids the charioteer drive straight into the fortress of the most terrible mlecchas. His confidence is so great that what has not yet begun he already deems "tīrṇam" -- already accomplished. It is telling that resolve foresees the outcome before the deed. The verse teaches that firm will carries within it the pledge of accomplishment: one who has resolved with his whole heart already sees the future as fulfilled -- and so he goes to meet the hardest task without wavering, as to a work already won.
