बृहत्क्षत्रे हते राजन् केकयानां महारथे ॥
शैशुपालिः सुसंक्रुद्धो यन्तारम् इदम् अब्रवीत् ॥
सारथे याहि यत्रैष द्रोणस् तिष्ठति दंशितः ॥
विनिघ्नन् केकयान् सर्वान् पाञ्चालानां च वाहिनीम् ॥
तस्य तद् वचनं श्रुत्वा सारथी रथिनां वरम् ॥
द्रोणाय प्रापयाम् आस काम्बोजैर् जवनैर् हयैः ॥
bṛhatkṣatre hate rājan kekayānāṃ mahārathe ||
śaiśupāliḥ susaṃkruddho yantāram idam abravīt ||
sārathe yāhi yatraiṣa droṇas tiṣṭhati daṃśitaḥ ||
vinighnan kekayān sarvān pāñcālānāṃ ca vāhinīm ||
tasya tad vacanaṃ śrutvā sārathī rathināṃ varam ||
droṇāya prāpayām āsa kāmbojair javanair hayaiḥ ||
With Brihatkshatra, the great warrior of the Kekayas, slain, O king, the son of Shishupala [Dhrishtaketu], greatly enraged, said this to his charioteer: "Charioteer, drive to where this Drona stands, armored, cutting down all the Kekayas and the host of the Panchalas." Hearing that word of his, the charioteer brought the finest of chariot-warriors to Drona with swift Kamboja horses.

Dhrishtaketu, tearing to avenge the fallen Kekaya, rushes toward Drona: grief for one's own drives a man toward fearsome ruin. It is telling that noble anger takes no account of danger. The verse teaches that grief for a kinsman drives the avenger to meet his own fate: the noble impulse to avenge the fallen often leads the avenger himself to fall next, for grief unlit by reason is blind to danger.
