ततः सैन्यान्य् अकम्पन्त धृष्टद्युम्नसुते हते ॥
अथ द्रोणं समारोहच् चेकितानो महारथः ॥
स द्रोणं दशभिर् बाणैः प्रत्यविध्यत् स्तनान्तरे ॥
चतुर्भिः सारथिं चास्य चतुर्भिश् चतुरो हयान् ॥
तस्याचार्यः षोडशभिर् अविध्यद् दक्षिणं भुजम् ॥
ध्वजं षोडशभिर् बाणैर् यन्तारं चास्य सप्तभिः ॥
तस्य सूते हते ते ऽश्वा रथम् आदाय विद्रुताः ॥
समरे शरसंवीता भारद्वाजेन मारिष ॥
चेकितानरथं दृष्ट्वा विद्रुतं हतसारथिम् ॥
पाञ्चालान् पाण्डवांश् चैव महद् भयम् अथाविशत् ॥

Then the troops trembled, when the son of Dhrishtadyumna was slain. Then Chekitana, the great warrior, charged upon Drona; he struck Drona with ten arrows in the chest, with four his charioteer, and with four his four horses. His teacher [Drona] pierced [his] right arm with sixteen, the banner with sixteen arrows, and his charioteer with seven. His charioteer slain, those horses, carrying off the chariot, fled in all directions, covered with arrows in battle by the son of Bharadvaja, O venerable one. Having seen Chekitana's chariot fled, its charioteer slain, great fear then seized the Panchalas and the Pandavas.
