एवम् उक्तः पुलस्त्येन वसिष्ठेन च धीमता ॥
तदा समापयाम् आस सत्रं शाक्तिः पराशरः ॥
सर्वराक्षससत्राय संभृतं पावकं मुनिः ॥
उत्तरे हिमवत्पार्श्वे उत्ससर्ज महावने ॥

Here wrath is at last fully mastered by the counsel of the wise. It is significant that Parashara, heeding the words of Pulastya and Vasishtha, ends the rite: gentle admonition sufficed for the great one to subdue his fury. Here is revealed the power of good counsel over a wise heart: one who is truly great yields to truth rather than persisting in anger. Thus the scripture reveals the conclusion of the long tale of enmity -- the victory not of vengeance but of forgiveness; and Parashara, having let go his wrath, turns the destructive fire away from the living.
