तस्यां वैश्रवणो राजा विचित्राभरणाम्बरः ॥
स्त्रीसहस्रावृतः श्रीमान् आस्ते ज्वलितकुण्डलः ॥
दिवाकरनिभे पुण्ये दिव्यास्तरणसंवृते ॥
दिव्यपादोपधाने च निषण्णः परमासने ॥

“In it, king Vaishravana, in varied ornaments and garments, surrounded by a thousand wives, blessed, with blazing earrings, sits enthroned upon the highest seat — sun-like, sacred, spread with divine coverings, with a divine footstool cushion.”

Here the lord of riches reveals himself in the full splendor of abundance. It is significant that his luxury is no fault, for it is subject to dharma: wealth won through austerity and rightfully kept is a blessing, not a stain. Thus the scripture shows the sanctioned fullness of prosperity; and what follows is the wind that serves him.
