मनस्विनम् अजानन्तो मा वै ब्रूयुः कुमारकाः ॥
एष वै दासपुत्रेति प्रतिविन्ध्यं तम् आगतम् ॥
राजपुत्रः पुरा भूत्वा यथा नान्यः पुमान् क्व चित् ॥
लालितो दासपुत्रत्वं पश्यन् नश्येद् धि भारत ॥
धृतराष्ट्र उवाच
द्वितीयं ते वरं भद्रे ददामि वरयस्व माम् ॥
मनो हि मे वितरति नैकं त्वं वरम् अर्हसि ॥
द्रौपद्य् उवाच
सरथौ सधनुष्कौ च भीमसेनधनंजयौ ॥
नकुलं सहदेवं च द्वितीयं वरये वरम् ॥
धृतराष्ट्र उवाच
तृतीयं वरयास्मत्तो नासि द्वाभ्यां सुसत्कृता ॥
त्वं हि सर्वस्नुषाणां मे श्रेयसी धर्मचारिणी ॥

tṛtīyaṃ varayāsmatto nāsi dvābhyāṃ susatkṛtā ||
tvaṃ hi sarvasnuṣāṇāṃ me śreyasī dharmacāriṇī ||
[Draupadi:] "Let not the children, not knowing his lofty spirit, say of Prativindhya, when he comes to them: 'here is the son of a slave.' Having once been a prince, like no other man anywhere, cherished, he would perish, seeing his own status as a slave's son, O Bharata." [Dhritarashtra:] "A second boon I grant you, gracious one; choose it from me, for my mind inclines — you are worthy of not just one." [Draupadi:] "Bhimasena and Dhananjaya, Nakula and Sahadeva, with chariots and bows — I choose as the second boon."

In this concern for her son a mother's heart reveals itself: the freed wife's first thought is for the boy Prativindhya, whom his father's disgrace might have broken. So the care of the righteous extends to the future, to those who will bear the burden of present deeds. With her second boon Draupadi restores freedom not to herself but to her husbands — together with their weapons, for without chariots and bows a warrior is no warrior: she restores not only their will but their capacity to uphold dharma. It is telling that not once does she ask anything for herself. The verse teaches that love thinks of children and of duty before its own peace; and that true deliverance restores not merely life, but also the means to live with dignity.
