ऋतं सत्यं परं ब्रह्म पुरुषं कृष्णपिङ्गलम् । ऊर्ध्वरेतं विरूपाक्षं शङ्करं नीललोहितम् । उमापतिः पशुपतिः पिनाकी ह्यमितद्युतिः । ईशानः सर्वविद्यानामीश्वरः सर्वभूतानां ब्रह्माधिपतिर्ब्रह्मणोऽधिपतिर्यो वै यजुर्वेदवाच्यस्त्वं साम जानीयाद्यो जानीते सोऽमृतत्वं च गच्छति

Order, truth, the highest Brahman, the Puruṣa dark-tawny, with seed drawn upward, odd-eyed, Śaṅkara blue-red; the husband of Umā, the lord of creatures, bearing the bow Pināka, of measureless radiance, the ruler of all knowledges, the Lord of all beings, supreme over Brahman and over Brahmā — him of whom the Yajur-veda speaks let him know by this chant; who knows attains immortality.

The paragraph is composed entirely of Vedic sayings about Rudra, and composed deliberately.
The first half is from the Mahānārāyaṇa Upaniṣad: “order, truth, the highest Brahman, the Puruṣa dark-tawny, with seed drawn upward, odd-eyed, Śaṅkara blue-red”. The second is from the Śvetāśvatara: “the ruler of all knowledges, the Lord of all beings, supreme over Brahman”.
That is, in a book about Nṛsiṃha a whole paragraph is given to the names of Śiva.
This is usual in the śruti, and we have read the same in the reverse direction: the Atharvaśiras, a Śaiva book, called Rudra Viṣṇu; the Rāma-tāpanī called Rāma Maheśvara and Mahādeva.
Here a Vaiṣṇava book takes the sayings about Rudra and says: this too is a quarter of the same chant.
Note two words on which this whole interchange rests. Ūrdhvaretas — “with seed drawn upward”, that is, keeping it, not spilling it: a usual name of the ascetic and of Śiva himself. Virūpākṣa — “odd-eyed”, the one whose eye is uncommon; so Śiva is called for the third eye.
And the last: yajur-veda-vācya — “he of whom the Yajur-veda speaks”. The book cites its source and does not pass these names off as its own invention.
