Prajāpati said: “Who constantly repeats this king of mantras, the Nṛsiṃha, in the anuṣṭubh metre, he becomes purified by fire, purified by wind, purified by the sun, purified by the moon, purified by truth, purified by Brahmā, purified by Viṣṇu, purified by Rudra, purified by the gods; he becomes purified by all, he becomes purified by all.”

The first of the fruits: purification, and the purifiers named are nine.
Fire, wind, sun, moon — the elements and luminaries; truth; Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Rudra; and all the gods.
To the reader of this collection the list is familiar: with almost the same words end the Atharvaśiras, the Kaivalya and the last chapter of the Rāma-tāpanī.
This agreement shows that before us is not the book's invention but a closing formula common to a whole circle of Upaniṣads.
Note that among the purifiers stands satya, truth.
The other eight are persons or elements; truth is neither. And yet it is set in the row, and set in the middle.
This is the whole sense of such a list. One is purified not only by fire and water; what purifies is also that a man has not lied.
And the repetition at the end — sa sarvapūto bhavati twice — is the usual sign that the list is closed.
