अतर्पयच् च विविधैर् वसुभिर् ब्राह्मणांस् तथा ॥
प्रासर्पकाले संप्राप्ते नानादिग्भ्यः समागतान् ॥
भक्ष्यैर् भोज्यैश् च विविधैर् यथाकामपुरस्कृतैः ॥
रत्नौघतर्पितैस् तुष्टैर् द्विजैश् च समुदाहृतम् ॥
तेजस्वी च यशस्वी च नृपेभ्यो ऽभ्यधिको ऽभवत् ॥
एतस्मात् कारणात् पार्थ हरिश्चन्द्रो विराजते ॥
तेभ्यो राजसहस्रेभ्यस् तद् विद्धि भरतर्षभ ॥

atarpayac ca vividhair vasubhir brāhmaṇāṃs tathā ||
prāsarpakāle saṃprāpte nānādigbhyaḥ samāgatān ||
bhakṣyair bhojyaiś ca vividhair yathākāmapuraskṛtaiḥ ||
ratnaughatarpitais tuṣṭair dvijaiś ca samudāhṛtam ||
tejasvī ca yaśasvī ca nṛpebhyo 'bhyadhiko 'bhavat ||
etasmāt kāraṇāt pārtha hariścandro virājate ||
tebhyo rājasahasrebhyas tad viddhi bharatarṣabha ||

तेजस्वी च यशस्वी चtejasvī ca yaśasvī ca[and] radiant, and glorious
नृपेभ्यः अभ्यधिकः अभवत्nṛpebhyaḥ abhyadhikaḥ abhavathe became above [other] kings;

"And he gratified the brahmins who had gathered from every quarter with manifold riches when the time of the festive assembly came — with food and dishes according to their wish, sated with streams of gems, the satisfied brahmins proclaimed [his greatness]; and he became more radiant and glorious than [other] kings. For this reason, O Partha, Harishchandra shines above those thousand kings — know this, O bull of the Bharatas."
