आयुर् आरोग्यम् ऐश्वर्यं वित्तं कामांश् च पुष्कलान् ॥
स ददाति मनुष्येभ्यः स चैवाक्षिपते पुनः ॥
सेन्द्रादिषु च देवेषु तस्य चैश्वर्यम् उच्यते ॥
स चैव व्याहृते लोके मनुष्याणां शुभाशुभे ॥
ऐश्वर्याच् चैव कामानाम् ईश्वरः पुनर् उच्यते ॥
महेश्वरश् च भूतानां महताम् ईश्वरश् च सः ॥

āyur ārogyam aiśvaryaṃ vittaṃ kāmāṃś ca puṣkalān ||
sa dadāti manuṣyebhyaḥ sa caivākṣipate punaḥ ||
sendrādiṣu ca deveṣu tasya caiśvaryam ucyate ||
sa caiva vyāhṛte loke manuṣyāṇāṃ śubhāśubhe ||
aiśvaryāc caiva kāmānām īśvaraḥ punar ucyate ||
maheśvaraś ca bhūtānāṃ mahatām īśvaraś ca saḥ ||

"Longevity, health, dominion, wealth, and abundant desired blessings he gives to people; he himself also takes them away again. And among the gods headed by Indra his dominion is proclaimed; and he himself governs [apportions] in the world the good and evil of people. For his dominion over desires he is again called Ishvara; and Maheshvara of beings, and lord of the great ones is he."
