धृतराष्ट्र उवाच
भीष्मः शांतनवो विद्वान् द्रोणश् च भगवान् ऋषिः ॥
हितं परमकं वाक्यं त्वं च सत्यं ब्रवीषि माम् ॥
यथैव पाण्डोस् ते वीराः कुन्तीपुत्रा महारथाः ॥
तथैव धर्मतः सर्वे मम पुत्रा न संशयः ॥
dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca
bhīṣmaḥ śāṃtanavo vidvān droṇaś ca bhagavān ṛṣiḥ ||
hitaṃ paramakaṃ vākyaṃ tvaṃ ca satyaṃ bravīṣi mām ||
yathaiva pāṇḍos te vīrāḥ kuntīputrā mahārathāḥ ||
tathaiva dharmataḥ sarve mama putrā na saṃśayaḥ ||
Dhritarashtra said: "Bhishma, son of Shantanu, the learned one, and Drona, the blessed sage, have spoken the highest, salutary word, and you too speak truth to me; just as those heroes are the sons of Pandu, sons of Kunti, great chariot-warriors, so too, by dharma, all of them are my sons, without doubt."

Here good counsel triumphs for a moment in the king's heart. It is telling that Dhritarashtra accepts the word of the righteous and acknowledges the Pandavas as his own sons: truth, when heeded, gives birth to a good decision. This shows how fruitful obedience to the wise can be. Thus scripture reveals a bright turn; the king, having heeded dharma, is ready to render his nephews their due.
