देवनागरी
ततः सुराः सगन्धर्वा यक्षराक्षसपन्नगाः ॥
उत्पेतुर् नादम् अतुलम् उत्सृजन्तो रणार्थिणः ॥
अयःकणपचक्राश्मभुशुण्ड्युद्यतबाहवः ॥
कृष्णपार्थौ जिघांसन्तः क्रोधसंमूर्च्छितौजसः ॥

"Then the gods, with the gandharvas, the yakshas, rakshasas, and nagas, soared up, uttering an incomparable roar, eager for battle; with arms raised, holding iron kanapas, chakras, stones, and bhushundis, wishing to kill Krishna and Partha, their might seething with fury."

Here all the hosts of heaven and the demigods rise up together against the two. It is significant that against Nara and Narayana come forth multitudes of gods and spirits: the whole world has risen up -- and yet in vain. Thus it is disclosed that even the combined power of creation is powerless against the Lord and His devotee. Thus the scripture reveals the universal onslaught; and the greatness of the two shines all the brighter for it.
