पूषा भगश् च संक्रुद्धः सविता च विशां पते ॥
आत्तकार्मुकनिस्त्रिंशाः कृष्णपार्थाव् अभिद्रुताः ॥
रुद्राश् च वसवश् चैव मरुतश् च महाबलाः ॥
विश्वेदेवास् तथा साध्या दीप्यमानाः स्वतेजसा ॥
एते चान्ये च बहवो देवास् तौ पुरुषोत्तमौ ॥
कृष्णपार्थौ जिघांसन्तः प्रतीयुर् विविधायुधाः ॥
pūṣā bhagaś ca saṃkruddhaḥ savitā ca viśāṃ pate ||
āttakārmukanistriṃśāḥ kṛṣṇapārthāv abhidrutāḥ ||
rudrāś ca vasavaś caiva marutaś ca mahābalāḥ ||
viśvedevās tathā sādhyā dīpyamānāḥ svatejasā ||
ete cānye ca bahavo devās tau puruṣottamau ||
kṛṣṇapārthau jighāṃsantaḥ pratīyur vividhāyudhāḥ ||
Pushan and Bhaga, enraged, and Savitri, O lord of the people, taking up bows and swords, rushed upon Krishna and Partha; and the Rudras, and the Vasus, and the mighty Maruts, the Vishvedevas and the Sadhyas, blazing with their own splendor — these and many other gods, desiring to slay those two, the best of men, Krishna and Partha, advanced upon them with weapons of every kind.

Here the entire pantheon, to the last god, arrays itself against the two. Telling is the fact that the Rudras, the Vasus, the Maruts, and all the gods come forth: truly the whole host of heaven has risen against Nara and Narayana. In this is seen that the Lord Himself accepts the challenge of the whole creation. Thus the text shows the fullness of the confrontation; and the invincibility of the two will be revealed in its full splendor.
