कस्य चित् त्व् अथ कालस्य कंसो निर्मथ्य बान्धवान् ॥
बार्हद्रथसुते देव्याव् उपागच्छद् वृथामतिः ॥
अस्तिः प्राप्तिश् च नाम्ना ते सहदेवानुजे ऽबले ॥
बलेन तेन स ज्ञातीन् अभिभूय वृथामतिः ॥
श्रैष्ठ्यं प्राप्तः स तस्यासीद् अतीवापनयो महान् ॥
भोजराजन्यवृद्धैस् तु पीड्यमानैर् दुरात्मना ॥

उपागच्छत् वृथा-मतिःupāgacchat vṛthā-matiḥtook as wives, the dull-witted one;
अस्तिः प्राप्तिः च नाम्ना तेastiḥ prāptiḥ ca nāmnā tenamed Asti and Prapti, those,
सहदेव-अनुजे अबलेsahadeva-anuje abalethe younger sisters of Sahadeva, gentle ones;
बलेन तेन सः ज्ञातीन्balena tena saḥ jñātīnby that strength he, his kinsmen,
अभिभूय वृथा-मतिःabhibhūya vṛthā-matiḥhaving trampled, the dull-witted one,
श्रैष्ठ्यम् प्राप्तः सः तस्य आसीत्śraiṣṭhyam prāptaḥ saḥ tasya āsītattained supremacy; that was for him
अतीव अपनयः महान्atīva apanayaḥ mahāna very great lawlessness;
भोज-राजन्य-वृद्धैः तुbhoja-rājanya-vṛddhaiḥ tuby the elders of the kshatriya-Bhojas,
पीड्यमानैः दुरात्मनाpīḍyamānaiḥ durātmanāoppressed by the wicked one,

अनुवाद

After some time had passed, the dull-witted Kamsa, having trampled upon his own kinsmen, took as wives the two daughters of Barhadratha [Jarasandha] — the princesses Asti and Prapti, the gentle younger sisters of Sahadeva; by that [new] strength the dull-witted one, having trampled his kinsmen, attained supremacy, and this was for him a very great lawlessness. And the elders of the kshatriya-Bhojas, oppressed by the wicked one...
