Here Kamsa, having allied himself by marriage with the tyrant, turns this strength against his own people. It is telling that alliance with the unrighteous strengthens the wicked against their kin: kinship with evil does not reconcile but arms one against the good. Scripture thus shows the ruin that comes from alliance with untruth; and next comes the plea of the oppressed for help.
