भये तु समुपक्रान्ते जरासंधे समुद्यते ॥
मन्त्रो ऽयं मन्त्रितो राजन् कुलैर् अष्टादशावरैः ॥
अनारमन्तो निघ्नन्तो महास्त्रैः शतघातिभिः ॥
न हन्याम वयं तस्य त्रिभिर् वर्षशतैर् बलम् ॥
तस्य ह्य् अमरसंकाशौ बलेन बलिनां वरौ ॥
नामभ्यां हंसडिभकाव् इत्य् आस्तां योधसत्तमौ ॥
ताव् उभौ सहितौ वीरौ जरासंधश् च वीर्यवान् ॥
त्रयस् त्रयाणां लोकानां पर्याप्ता इति मे मतिः ॥

tasya hy amarasaṃkāśau balena balināṃ varau ||
nāmabhyāṃ haṃsaḍibhakāv ity āstāṃ yodhasattamau ||
tāv ubhau sahitau vīrau jarāsaṃdhaś ca vīryavān ||
trayas trayāṇāṃ lokānāṃ paryāptā iti me matiḥ ||

जरासंधे समुद्यतेjarāsaṃdhe samudyate[when] Jarasandha rose up,
मन्त्रः अयम् मन्त्रितः राजन्mantraḥ ayam mantritaḥ rājansuch was the counsel held, O king,
कुलैः अष्टादश-अवरैःkulaiḥ aṣṭādaśa-avaraiḥby eighteen clans:
अनारमन्तः निघ्नन्तःanāramantaḥ nighnantaḥwithout resting, striking
महा-अस्त्रैः शत-घातिभिःmahā-astraiḥ śata-ghātibhiḥwith great weapons, each slaying a hundred [at once],
न हन्याम वयम् तस्यna hanyāma vayam tasyawe would not destroy his
त्रिभिः वर्ष-शतैः बलम्tribhiḥ varṣa-śataiḥ balamarmy even in three hundred years;
तस्य हि अमर-संकाशौtasya hi amara-saṃkāśaufor he had two, like immortals,
बलेन बलिनाम् वरौbalena balinām varauthe mightiest among the mighty,
नामभ्याम् हंस-डिभकौnāmabhyām haṃsa-ḍibhakaunamed Hamsa and Dibhaka,
इति आस्ताम् योध-सत्तमौiti āstām yodha-sattamauthe finest of warriors;
तौ उभौ सहितौ वीरौtau ubhau sahitau vīrauthose two heroes, [joined together],
जरासंधः च वीर्यवान्jarāsaṃdhaḥ ca vīryavānand valiant Jarasandha —
त्रयः त्रयाणाम् लोकानाम्trayaḥ trayāṇām lokānāmthe three — to the three worlds
पर्याप्ताः इति मे मतिःparyāptāḥ iti me matiḥare equal, [such] is my opinion;

अनुवाद

"When danger drew near and Jarasandha rose up, such was the counsel held, O king, by the eighteen clans: striking without rest with great weapons that slay a hundred at once, we could not destroy his army even in three hundred years; for he had two who were like immortals, the mightiest among the mighty, named Hamsa and Dibhaka, the finest of warriors; and those two heroes together with valiant Jarasandha — these three are a match for the three worlds, such is my opinion."
