तेन रुद्धा हि राजानः सर्वे जित्वा गिरिव्रजे ॥
कन्दरायां गिरीन्द्रस्य सिंहेनेव महाद्विपाः ॥
सो ऽपि राजा जरासंधो यियक्षुर् वसुधाधिपैः ॥
आराध्य हि महादेवं निर्जितास् तेन पार्थिवाः ॥
स हि निर्जित्य निर्जित्य पार्थिवान् पृतनागतान् ॥
पुरम् आनीय बद्ध्वा च चकार पुरुषव्रजम् ॥

kandarāyāṃ girīndrasya siṃheneva mahādvipāḥ ||
so 'pi rājā jarāsaṃdho yiyakṣur vasudhādhipaiḥ ||
ārādhya hi mahādevaṃ nirjitās tena pārthivāḥ ||
sa hi nirjitya nirjitya pārthivān pṛtanāgatān ||
puram ānīya baddhvā ca cakāra puruṣavrajam ||

सर्वे जित्वा गिरिव्रजेsarve jitvā girivrajeall of them, conquered, in Girivraja,
कन्दरायाम् गिरि-इन्द्रस्यkandarāyām giri-indrasyain the cavern of the lord of mountains,
सिंहेन इव महा-द्विपाःsiṃhena iva mahā-dvipāḥlike great elephants by a lion;
सः अपि राजा जरासंधःsaḥ api rājā jarāsaṃdhaḥthat king Jarasandha,
यियक्षुः वसुधा-अधिपैःyiyakṣuḥ vasudhā-adhipaiḥdesiring to sacrifice the lords of the earth [to Rudra],
आराध्य हि महादेवम्ārādhya hi mahādevamfor, having propitiated Mahadeva,
निर्जिताः तेन पार्थिवाःnirjitāḥ tena pārthivāḥthe kings were conquered by him;
सः हि निर्जित्य निर्जित्यsaḥ hi nirjitya nirjityafor he, conquering again and again
पार्थिवान् पृतना-गतान्pārthivān pṛtanā-gatānthe kings who came with their armies,
पुरम् आनीय बद्ध्वा चpuram ānīya baddhvā cabringing them to the city and binding them,
चकार पुरुष-व्रजम्cakāra puruṣa-vrajammade [of them] a "pen of men."

अनुवाद

"For by him were kings confined, all of them conquered, in Girivraja, in the cavern of the lord of mountains, like great elephants by a lion; for that king Jarasandha, desiring to sacrifice the lords of the earth [to Rudra], had — having propitiated Mahadeva — conquered those kings; for he, conquering again and again the kings who came with their armies, brought them to the city, bound them, and made [of them] a 'pen of men.'"
