इति संचिन्त्य सर्वे स्मiti saṃcintya sarve smathus resolving, all of us
प्रतीचीम् दिशम् आश्रिताःpratīcīm diśam āśritāḥtook refuge toward the western quarter,
कुशस्थलीम् पुरीम् रम्याम्kuśasthalīm purīm ramyāmat Kushasthali, the delightful city,
रैवतेन उपशोभिताम्raivatena upaśobhitāmadorned by [the mountain] Raivata;
पुनः निवेशनम् तस्याम्punaḥ niveśanam tasyāmsettlement there once more
कृतवन्तः वयम् नृपkṛtavantaḥ vayam nṛpawe established, O king,
तथा एव दुर्ग-संस्कारम्tathā eva durga-saṃskāramand likewise the strengthening of the fortress,
देवैः अपि दुरासदम्devaiḥ api durāsadamunassailable even by the gods;
स्त्रियः अपि यस्याम् युध्येयुःstriyaḥ api yasyām yudhyeyuḥ[where] even women could fight,
किम् पुनः वृष्णि-पुंगवाःkim punaḥ vṛṣṇi-puṃgavāḥnot to speak of the bulls of the Vrishnis;
तस्याम् वयम् अमित्र-घ्नtasyām vayam amitra-ghnain it we, O slayer of foes,
निवसामः अकुतोभयाःnivasāmaḥ akutobhayāḥdwell, fearing nothing from any quarter;

Here exile turns into the founding of an impregnable stronghold.
