तथा ब्रुवत एवास्य भगवान् मधुसूदनः ॥
व्यपाहरच् छिरः क्रुद्धश् चक्रेणामित्रकर्षणः ॥
स पपात महाबाहुर् वज्राहत इवाचलः ॥
ततश् चेदिपतेर् देहात् तेजो ऽग्र्यं ददृशुर् नृपाः ॥
उत्पतन्तं महाराज गगनाद् इव भास्करम् ॥

译文
While he was still speaking, at that very instant the enraged Lord Madhusudana, tormentor of foes, severed his head with the discus. And then the kings beheld a supreme radiance rising up from the body of the Chedi-lord, O great king, like the sun from the sky.

The hour struck "at that very instant" as Shishupala was still uttering his blasphemy: the execution followed instantly upon the exhaustion of the measure. It is telling that the Lord's judgment is precise to the moment — neither before the appointed time nor after. The verse teaches that forbearance and punishment are two sides of the same truth: He who bore a hundred offenses strikes on the hundred-and-first without delay. Sudarshana, the Lord's discus, is the instrument not of blind fury but of righteous decision. And the very rising of radiance from the slain body proclaims that this is no ordinary death, but something more: in the fallen one was that which now returns to its Source.
