सुप्यतां पार्थ भद्रं ते कल्याणाय व्रजाम्य् अहम् ॥
स्थापयित्वा ततो द्वाःस्थान् गोप्तॄंश् चात्तायुधान् नरान् ॥
दारुकानुगतः श्रीमान् विवेश शिबिरं स्वकम् ॥
शिश्ये च शयने शुभ्रे बहुकृत्यं विचिन्तयन् ॥
tataḥ prītamanāḥ pārtho gandhair mālyaiś ca mādhavam ||
alaṃkṛtyopahāraṃ taṃ naiśam asmai nyavedayat ||
smayamānas tu govindaḥ phalgunaṃ pratyabhāṣata ||
supyatāṃ pārtha bhadraṃ te kalyāṇāya vrajāmy aham ||
sthāpayitvā tato dvāḥsthān goptṝṃś cāttāyudhān narān ||
dārukānugataḥ śrīmān viveśa śibiraṃ svakam ||
śiśye ca śayane śubhre bahukṛtyaṃ vicintayan ||
Then Partha, joyful at heart, having honored Madhava with fragrances and garlands, presented to him that night offering. Smiling, Govinda answered Phalguna: "Rest, Partha, well-being to you; for your welfare I am going." Then, having stationed gatekeepers and armed guards, the glorious one, accompanied by Daruka, entered his own camp.

The friendship of the two breathes in small things: Arjuna joyfully honors Krishna, and the Lord, "smayamānaḥ," smiling, answers with tenderness: "supyatāṃ pārtha bhadraṃ te," "rest, well-being to you." "Kalyāṇāya vrajāmi aham," "for your welfare I am going" — Krishna departs to labor for His friend while he sleeps. It is telling that the Lord's care does not slumber even while the devotee rests. The verse teaches that God attends to His own even in their hours of rest: the devotee may fall asleep in peace, for the Lord Himself is at that very moment arranging his welfare.
