The Lord reveals His heart: "kaś cin na anyaḥ priyataraḥ... mama arjunāt" — no one, neither wives nor kin, is dearer to Him than Arjuna. This is the secret of bhakti: God is bound to His devotee by a love beyond all other ties. And from this love comes resolve: "śvas tat kariṣyāmi," "tomorrow I will act so." It is telling that Krishna takes on the fulfillment of a man's vow out of love, not out of duty. The verse teaches the very core of devotion: the devotee is dearer to the Lord than everything, and for his sake God Himself enters into the task; His love for His servant is the very foundation of every victory granted.
