भीसेनम् दं वाक्यं प्रम्लानो नृपः
था ङ्खस्य निर्घोषः पाञ्चन्यस्य श्रूते
प्रेरितो वासुदेवे संब्धे स्विना
नूनम् द्य तः शेते भ्राता नंयः
स्मिन् विनिते नूनं युध्यते ऽसौ नार्दनः
स्य त्त्वतो वीर्यम् जीन्ति पाण्डवाः
यं येष्व् भिच्छन्ति स्राक्षम् वाराः
शूरः सैन्धप्रेप्सुर् न्वयाद् भातीं मूम्

To him, full of tears, hissing like a black serpent, the king, his face faded, spoke this word to Bhimasena: "As the blast of the conch Panchajanya is heard, driven forth by Vasudeva, enraged and glorious — if that one [Arjuna] is slain, surely Janardana himself is fighting, he by whose valor, the mighty one, the Pandavas live."
