Durmukha and Duhsaha, Vikarna, Shala, and also Vinda-Anuvinda, Sumukha, Dirghabahu, Sudarshana -- with various [hosts], the best of charioteers, with troops, with followers, prepared in battle, the heroes rushed upon Bhimasena. Having seen them, the son of Kunti, Bhimasena, valiant, charged with speed, like a lion upon small beasts.

The sons of Dhritarashtra attack in a swarm, but Bhima falls upon them "like a lion upon small beasts": for the fearsome one, a multitude of foes is but a herd. It is telling that here the disparity of strength runs the other way -- one is more terrible than many. The verse teaches that before true might, numbers shrink to nothing: where a lion rises, a host of enemies is but game, and the terror of one surpasses a crowd.
