यं यं लोकं मनसा संविभाति विशुद्धसत्त्वः कामयते यान् च कामान् ।
तं तं लोकं जयते तान् च कामान् तस्मात् आत्मज्ञं हि अर्चयेत् भूतिकामः ॥

An unexpected verse about the power of purity — and about what to do with it. yaṁ yaṁ lokaṁ manasā saṁvibhāti viśuddha-sattvaḥ — "whatever world the purified man illumines with his mind": for a pure consciousness what is conceived comes to pass: a will not pulled apart by passions acts as a beam, not as scattered light; kāmayate yāṁś ca kāmān — "and whatever desires he desires" — taṁ taṁ lokaṁ jayate tāṁś ca kāmān — "that world he wins, and those desires".
But the Upaniṣad instantly turns this power away from where self-interest would reach: tasmād ātmajñaṁ hy arcayet bhūti-kāmaḥ — "therefore let him who desires prosperity honour the knower of the Ātman": not "become pure so that your wishes come true", but "honour him who is pure and knows": the householder who longs for good (bhūti — prosperity) most surely obtains it through service to the knower; nearness to the pure purifies the desires of the one who draws near.
Here the great social axis of Vedic culture is legislated: the alliance of those who seek goods and those who have found the Good: the first support the second with gifts, the second the first with light; the Gītā (4.34) commands one to go to the knowers, the Bhāgavatam calls it sādhu-saṅga — association with saints, out of which, in Caitanya's word, everything grows.
