The charting continues, and the book itself names the places without evasion: the base is the anus, the second the genitals. This directness deserves mention. In later expositions these places are usually named allusively; but here it is said as it is.
Worth noting too is the name of the sixth: ajna-chakra, "circle of command." Ajna means "order, command, permission"; and the place between the brows is named that from which one commands. This name, on reflection, is precise. It is exactly from there that a man disposes: there the will is gathered, there the brow tenses under effort, and there too a heaviness is felt when one decides.
From this the Vaishnava side draws an observation worth stating. If the highest place in a man is the place of command, then the hardest thing of all is to stop commanding: a will that has reached the summit remains a will — and there, precisely there, it is decided whom it will obey. The Gita ends with exactly this: having enumerated everything, Krishna says: "reflect on all this and act as you wish" (18.63) — that is, He returns the order to man. And only after this, once the order is returned, does "abandoning all dharmas, come to Me alone" follow (18.66).
