तदिह कादापो लात्पृथिवी
ईतोऽग्निर्बिन्दोरिन्दुस्तत्संपातातदर्क इति ओंक्लींकारादसृजं ।
कृष्णायादाकाशं खाद् वायुरित्युत्तरात् सुरभिं विद्याः प्रादुरकार्षं ।
तदुत्तरात् स्त्रीपुमादि चेदं सकलमिति सकलमिति

Translation

And so: from "ka" the waters, from "la" the earth, from "ī" fire, from the dot the moon, from their meeting the sun; out of "oṁ klīṁ" I created all this. From "kṛṣṇāya", space, and out of space the wind; from the next word I brought forth the wish-cow and the sciences; and from the word after that, the female, the male and everything else — everything there is.

Commentary

The most technical mantra in the book: it sets out creation letter by letter of the mantra.

It must be read with the device in mind. In tantric lore every letter is assigned a correspondence: to the syllable ka, water; to la, earth; to the vowel ī, fire; to the anusvāra (the dot above the letter), the moon. Out of these letters the seed-syllable klīṁ is composed, and therefore it is said that from "oṁ klīṁ" came the elements, and from their meeting the sun.

Then come the words of the mantra itself, and each gives birth to its own class of things. From "kṛṣṇāya", space, and out of space the wind; from "govindāya", Surabhi, the wish-fulfilling cow, and the sciences; from "gopījana-vallabhāya", the division into female and male and all the remaining manifoldness.

Behind the technique stands a clear thought: the order of the cosmos repeats the order of the name. The world is not a heap of accidents but the unfolding of a single word — the one handed to the creator.

Note that Surabhi and the sciences come from the name "Govinda" — the very one explained through go: cow, earth, the speech of the Veda. The etymology of mantra 5 and the creation of mantra 30 agree.

The last words, "all this, everything there is", are doubled — the sign that the list is complete.
