दृश्यन्ते हि दुरात्मानो वध्यमानाः स्वकर्मभिः ॥
इन्द्रियाणाम् अनीशत्वाद् राजानो राज्यविभ्रमैः ॥
असंत्यागात् पापकृताम् अपापांस्; तुल्यो दण्डः स्पृशते मिश्रभावात् ॥
शुष्केणार्द्रं दह्यते मिश्रभावात्; तस्मात् पापैः सह संधिं न कुर्यात् ॥
निजान् उत्पततः शत्रून् पञ्च पञ्चप्रयोजनान् ॥
यो मोहान् न निगृह्णाति तम् आपद् ग्रसते नरम् ॥
अनसूयार्जवं शौचं संतोषः प्रियवादिता ॥
दमः सत्यम् अनायासो न भवन्ति दुरात्मनाम् ॥
आत्मज्ञानम् अनायासस् तितिक्षा धर्मनित्यता ॥
वाक् चैव गुप्ता दानं च नैतान्य् अन्त्येषु भारत ॥

dṛśyante hi durātmāno vadhyamānāḥ svakarmabhiḥ ||
indriyāṇām anīśatvād rājāno rājyavibhramaiḥ ||
asaṃtyāgāt pāpakṛtām apāpāṃs; tulyo daṇḍaḥ spṛśate miśrabhāvāt ||
śuṣkeṇārdraṃ dahyate miśrabhāvāt; tasmāt pāpaiḥ saha saṃdhiṃ na kuryāt ||
nijān utpatataḥ śatrūn pañca pañcaprayojanān ||
yo mohān na nigṛhṇāti tam āpad grasate naram ||
anasūyārjavaṃ śaucaṃ saṃtoṣaḥ priyavāditā ||
damaḥ satyam anāyāso na bhavanti durātmanām ||
ātmajñānam anāyāsas titikṣā dharmanityatā ||
vāk caiva guptā dānaṃ ca naitāny antyeṣu bhārata ||

Traducción

Endowed with all auspicious marks and worthy to rule the three worlds, Yudhishthira is obedient to your commands. Let him, O Dhritarashtra, rule the earth, to the exclusion of all your sons. Yudhishthira is the best of all your heirs. Endowed with energy and wisdom, versed in the truths of religion and gain, Yudhishthira, the greatest among the righteous, O king of kings, has endured much suffering out of kindness and compassion, in order to preserve his good name.
