एवम् उक्तस् ततः कृष्णः प्रत्युवाच वृकोदरम् ॥
त्वरयन् पुरुषव्याघ्रो जरासंधवधेप्सया ॥
यत् ते दैवं परं सत्त्वं यच् च ते मातरिश्वनः ॥
बलं भीम जरासंधे दर्शयाशु तद् अद्य नः ॥

यच् च ते मातरिश्वनःyac ca te mātariśvanaḥand whatever is in you from Matarishvan (Vayu),

अनुवाद
Thus addressed, Krishna, tiger among men, urging Vrikodara on in his eagerness to see Jarasandha's destruction, replied: "That supreme divine power that is in you, and that strength that comes to you from Matarishvan [Vayu] — display it, O Bhima, on Jarasandha now, at once."

The Lord reminds Bhima of the source of his strength: it is "divine" and comes "from Matarishvan" — Bhima being the son of the wind-god. It is significant that the warrior receives his might not as his own possession but as something entrusted to him; it must be displayed at the word of the One who granted it. The verse teaches that the gift of strength is given for the accomplishment of a righteous deed at its appointed hour, and the Lord himself indicates when and upon whom it is to be shown — the devotee's action and the will of the Supreme merge into one.
