वासुदेवस् तु तं दृष्ट्वा जगाम शिरसा क्षितिम् ॥
पार्थेन सह धर्मात्मा गृणन् ब्रह्म सनातनम् ॥
लोकादिं विश्वकर्माणम् अजम् ईशानम् अव्ययम् ॥
मनसः परमां योनिं खं वायुं ज्योतिषां निधिम् ॥
स्रष्टारं वारिधाराणां भुवश् च प्रकृतिं पराम् ॥
देवदानवयक्षाणां मानवानां च साधनम् ॥
vāsudevas tu taṃ dṛṣṭvā jagāma śirasā kṣitim ||
pārthena saha dharmātmā gṛṇan brahma sanātanam ||
lokādiṃ viśvakarmāṇam ajam īśānam avyayam ||
manasaḥ paramāṃ yoniṃ khaṃ vāyuṃ jyotiṣāṃ nidhim ||
sraṣṭāraṃ vāridhārāṇāṃ bhuvaś ca prakṛtiṃ parām ||
devadānavayakṣāṇāṃ mānavānāṃ ca sādhanam ||
Vasudeva, having seen him, bowed his head to the ground together with Partha, righteous of soul, proclaiming the eternal Brahman: the origin of the world, the all-maker, the unborn, the lord, the changeless; the supreme womb of the mind, space, wind, the treasury of luminaries; the creator of the streams of water and the supreme foundation of the earth, the support of gods, danavas, yakshas, and men.

It is telling that Krishna Himself, the Supreme Lord, bows to the ground before Shiva and glorifies him with an eternal hymn: 'lokadim vishvakarmanam... ajam ishanam avyayam.' Such a vision knows no rivalry among the gods: the Lord shows an example of reverence for the greatest of His devotees. The hymn beholds in Shiva a manifestation of the supreme principle -- the origin of the world, the support of all beings. The verse teaches that true faith does not belittle what others revere: God Himself honors His great servant, and in this humility of the Lord lies a lesson of unity, not discord, among paths of worship.
