एते हि बहवः सूत दुर्निवार्याश् च संयुगे ॥

atra māṃ prāpaya kṣipram aśvāṃś codaya sārathe ||
trigartaiḥ saha yotsyāmi bhāradvājasya paśyataḥ ||
"These, charioteer, are indeed many, and hard to hold back in battle, sent by Duryodhana, having renounced life for my sake — the excellent warriors of the Trigartas [with] banners adorned with gold, [facing] me, the heroes stand [ready] to fight. Bring me there quickly, urge on the horses, charioteer: I shall fight [with] the Trigartas [while] the son of Bharadvaja watches."

Satyaki does not choose the easy path, but bids himself driven into the very thick of it — toward the Trigartas, "madarthe tyaktajīvitāḥ," set against him at the cost of their own lives. It is telling that he seeks out the fiercest, and moreover "bhāradvājasya paśyataḥ," before the eyes of Drona. The verse teaches that true valor does not shrink from the hardest task: it goes to meet the strongest enemies openly, for a warrior's honor lies in overcoming a worthy foe in plain sight, not in evading him unseen.
