ततः प्रायाच् छनैः सूतः सात्वतस्य मते स्थितः ॥
रथेनादित्यवर्णेन भास्वरेण पताकिना ॥
तम् ऊहुः सारथेर् वश्या वल्गमाना हयोत्तमाः ॥
वायुवेगसमाः संख्ये कुन्देन्दुरजतप्रभाः ॥
आपतन्तं रथं तं तु शङ्खवर्णैर् हयोत्तमैः ॥
परिवव्रुस् ततः शूरा गजानीकेन सर्वतः ॥
किरन्तो विविधांस् तीक्ष्णान् सायकांल् लघुवेधिनः ॥

tataḥ prāyāc chanaiḥ sūtaḥ sātvatasya mate sthitaḥ ||
rathenādityavarṇena bhāsvareṇa patākinā ||
tam ūhuḥ sārather vaśyā valgamānā hayottamāḥ ||
vāyuvegasamāḥ saṃkhye kundendurajataprabhāḥ ||
āpatantaṃ rathaṃ taṃ tu śaṅkhavarṇair hayottamaiḥ ||
parivavrus tataḥ śūrā gajānīkena sarvataḥ ||
kiranto vividhāṃs tīkṣṇān sāyakāṃl laghuvedhinaḥ ||

सात्वतस्य मते स्थितःsātvatasya mate sthitaḥabiding by the will of the Satvata; keeping to the will of the Satvata
रथेन आदित्यवर्णेनrathena ādityavarṇena[on] the sun-colored chariot; on the chariot the color of the sun
भास्वरेण पताकिनाbhāsvareṇa patākināshining, [with] a banner; radiant, with a standard
तम् ऊहुः सारथेः वश्याःtam ūhuḥ sāratheḥ vaśyāḥobedient to the charioteer, they bore him; his charioteer's obedient [horses] bore him
वल्गमानाः हयोत्तमाःvalgamānāḥ hayottamāḥthe best horses, prancing [in vigor]; the excellent horses, frolicking
वायुवेगसमाः संख्येvāyuvegasamāḥ saṃkhyeequal to the wind's speed in battle; matching the wind's speed in the fight
कुन्देन्दुरजतप्रभाःkundendurajataprabhāḥ[with] the sheen of jasmine, moon, silver; with the luster of jasmine, moon and silver
आपतन्तम् रथम् तम् तुāpatantam ratham tam tubut that onrushing chariot; and that chariot, rushing forward
शङ्खवर्णैः हयोत्तमैःśaṅkhavarṇaiḥ hayottamaiḥ[with] the finest conch-colored horses; with excellent horses the color of a conch
परिवव्रुः ततः शूराःparivavruḥ tataḥ śūrāḥthe heroes then surrounded [it]; the heroes then encircled [it]
गजानीकेन सर्वतःgajānīkena sarvataḥwith the elephant-array from every side; with the elephant-array on all sides
अनुवाद

Then the charioteer drove slowly, abiding by the will of the Satvata, [on] the sun-colored chariot, shining, [with] a banner. Obedient to the charioteer, the best horses bore him, prancing [in vigor], equal to the wind's speed in battle, [with] the sheen of jasmine, moon, and silver. But that onrushing chariot, [with] the finest conch-colored horses, the heroes then surrounded with the elephant-array from every side.
