युधिष्ठिर उवाच
उपपन्नम् इदं मातस् त्वया यद् बुद्धिपूर्वकम् ॥
आर्तस्य ब्राह्मणस्यैवम् अनुक्रोशाद् इदं कृतम् ॥
ध्रुवम् एष्यति भीमो ऽयं निहत्य पुरुषादकम् ॥
यथा त्व् इदं न विन्देयुर् नरा नगरवासिनः ॥
तथायं ब्राह्मणो वाच्यः परिग्राह्यश् च यत्नतः ॥

yudhiṣṭhira uvāca
upapannam idaṃ mātas tvayā yad buddhipūrvakam ||
ārtasya brāhmaṇasyaivam anukrośād idaṃ kṛtam ||
dhruvam eṣyati bhīmo 'yaṃ nihatya puruṣādakam ||
yathā tv idaṃ na vindeyur narā nagaravāsinaḥ ||
tathāyaṃ brāhmaṇo vācyaḥ parigrāhyaś ca yatnataḥ ||

Translation

Yudhishthira said: "Worthy of you is this, mother, that you have decided thoughtfully: out of compassion for the suffering brahmin this has been done. Surely this Bhima will return, having slain the man-eater. But so that the townspeople do not learn of this, this brahmin must be carefully instructed and persuaded to silence."
