सः च अपि एवं वरम् इति अब्रवीत् तां देवः हि वेद परमं यत् अत्रsaḥ ca api evaṃ varam iti abravīt tāṃ devaḥ hi veda paramaṃ yat atraand he [Shiva] likewise said to her: "[so be] the boon"; for the god knows the highest that is hidden here;
यदि वा अयं विहितः शंकरेण धर्मः अधर्मः वा न अत्र मम अपराधःyadi vā ayaṃ vihitaḥ śaṃkareṇa dharmaḥ adharmaḥ vā na atra mama aparādhaḥif this dharma [or] adharma has been established by Shankara, no blame in that is mine;
गृह्णन्तु इमे विधिवत् पाणिम् अस्याः यथोपजोषं विहिता एषां हि कृष्णाgṛhṇantu ime vidhivat pāṇim asyāḥ yathopajoṣaṃ vihitā eṣāṃ hi kṛṣṇālet these accept her hand according to the rite, as they please; for Krishna is destined for them";

Here the king entrusts judgment to God, who knows the highest. Telling are the words "the god knows the highest that is hidden here" -- where human reason is powerless, the will of the Lord, who discerns what is hidden, decides. Here is the resting of conscience in higher wisdom: what the Lord Himself has established is not for men to judge. Thus the verse shows surrender to divine understanding; and Drupada consents to the marriage, relying on the will of Shiva and of Providence.
