"Then those princes of the Kurus, adorned, wearing earrings, youthful, in precious garments, anointed with the finest sandalwood, bathed, having performed the auspicious rites, together with the priest Dhaumya, radiant as fire, according to the rite, all in due order entered that assembly, like mighty bulls entering a pen, rejoicing."

Here the marriage is sanctified by purity and by rite. It is telling that the brothers first bathe and perform the auspicious rites and enter together with the priest: what is sacred is accomplished in bodily and ritual purity. Marriage is not a worldly transaction but a sacrament requiring purification and a priest. Thus the verse shows the reverent order of the wedding; and Dhaumya, blazing like fire, conducts the rite.
