अलंकृताः कुमाराश् च वृष्णीनां सुमहौजसः ॥
यानैर् हाटकचित्राङ्गैश् चञ्चूर्यन्ते स्म सर्वशः ॥
पौराश् च पादचारेण यानैर् उच्चावचैस् तथा ॥
सदाराः सानुयात्राश् च शतशो ऽथ सहस्रशः ॥

Translation
"The adorned princes of the Vrishnis, mighty ones, rode about everywhere in chariots with bright golden bodies; and the townsfolk — on foot and in various kinds of chariots — with wives and retinues, by the hundreds and thousands."

Here the whole populace — from princes to townsfolk — shares in the common rejoicing. It is significant that both the noble and the common people rejoice together: the auspicious festival unites everyone. Under the Lord's shelter, the people rejoice in harmony. Thus scripture shows universal joy; and through this teeming crowd two will pass — the Lord and His friend.
