त्वत्कृते पृथिवी सर्वा मद्वशे कृष्ण वर्तते ॥
धनं च बहु वार्ष्णेय त्वत्प्रसादाद् उपार्जितम् ॥
सो ऽहम् इच्छामि तत् सर्वं विधिवद् देवकीसुत ॥
उपयोक्तुं द्विजाग्र्येषु हव्यवाहे च माधव ॥
तद् अहं यष्टुम् इच्छामि दाशार्ह सहितस् त्वया ॥
अनुजैश् च महाबाहो तन् मानुज्ञातुम् अर्हसि ॥
tvatkṛte pṛthivī sarvā madvaśe kṛṣṇa vartate ||
dhanaṃ ca bahu vārṣṇeya tvatprasādād upārjitam ||
so 'ham icchāmi tat sarvaṃ vidhivad devakīsuta ||
upayoktuṃ dvijāgryeṣu havyavāhe ca mādhava ||
tad ahaṃ yaṣṭum icchāmi dāśārha sahitas tvayā ||
anujaiś ca mahābāho tan mānujñātum arhasi ||
"For your sake, Krishna, all the earth stands under my sway, and much wealth, O Varshneya, has been gained by your favor. And so I wish, O son of Devaki, to devote all of it, according to rite, to the foremost of the twice-born and to the sacrificial fire, O Madhava. This sacrifice I wish to perform, O Dasharha, together with you and with my younger brothers, O mighty-armed one; deign to grant your consent to this."

Yudhishthira claims neither the earth nor the wealth as his own: "for your sake... by your favor." It is telling that the very summit of dominion is acknowledged as the Lord's gift, not the fruit of one's own valor. And what he has gained he wishes neither to keep nor to spend on himself, but to "employ" upon the brahmanas and the fire — to return it to its Source. The verse teaches the perfect order of a devotee's heart: everything is received as grace, and everything is returned as offering. He who sees the hand of the Lord in his success is not exalted by it but turns it into sacrifice; and this is true possession — to hold what has been given only in order to give it away.
