रथशिक्षां तु दाशार्हो दर्शयाम् आस वीर्यवान् ॥
उत्तमाधममध्यानि मण्डलानि विदर्शयन् ॥
ते तु नामाङ्किताः पीताः कालज्वलनसंनिभाः ॥
स्नायुनद्धाः सुपर्वाणः पृथवो दीर्घगामिनः ॥
वैणवायस्मयशराः स्वायता विविधाननाः ॥
रुधिरं पतगैः सार्धं प्राणिनां पपुर् आहवे ॥
rathaśikṣāṃ tu dāśārho darśayām āsa vīryavān ||
uttamādhamamadhyāni maṇḍalāni vidarśayan ||
te tu nāmāṅkitāḥ pītāḥ kālajvalanasaṃnibhāḥ ||
snāyunaddhāḥ suparvāṇaḥ pṛthavo dīrghagāminaḥ ||
vaiṇavāyasmayaśarāḥ svāyatā vividhānanāḥ ||
rudhiraṃ patagaiḥ sārdhaṃ prāṇināṃ papur āhave ||
The valiant Dashārha displayed his skill in chariot-driving, tracing circles — the highest, the lowest, the middle. And those arrows, marked with his name, golden, like the fire of Time, bound with sinew, well-jointed, broad, far-flying, made of reed and iron, well-aimed, with varied heads — together with the birds, drank the blood of living beings in the battle.

Krishna displays 'rathaśikṣām,' the art of charioteering, tracing circles — the highest, the middle, the lowest. The Lord Himself drives with unsurpassed mastery. And the arrows — 'kālajvalanasaṃnibhāḥ,' like the fire of Time — 'rudhiraṃ papuḥ,' drink blood. The union is significant: divine skill in driving and the terrible harvest of arrows. The verse teaches that under the guidance of God as charioteer, even a warrior's labor attains perfection: where the Lord drives, every action is honed to precision; and the devotee's skill is but a reflection of the artistry of the One who holds the reins of his life.
