ततस् तौ निहतौ दृष्ट्वा तयो राजन् पदानुगाः ॥
अभ्यद्रवन्त संक्रुद्धाः किरन्तः शतशः शरान् ॥
तान् अर्जुनः शरैस् तूर्णं निहत्य भरतर्षभ ॥
व्यरोचत यथा वह्निर् दावं दग्ध्वा हिमात्यये ॥

अनुवाद
Then, seeing those two slain, their followers, O king, rushed forward, enraged, scattering hundreds of arrows. Having swiftly slain them with his arrows, O bull of the Bharatas, Arjuna shone like fire that has burned a forest at winter's end.

Arjuna, having struck down his attackers, "vyarocata yathā vahniḥ dāvam dagdhvā" -- shines like fire that has consumed a forest. The image is fierce and pure at once: fire does not rage in malice, it simply does what is its own. It is telling that retribution here is likened to a cleansing flame. The verse teaches that righteous retribution is like fire: it is not fed by anger but only accomplishes what is due, and having done so, shines with a clear light. As a forest fire clears the ground for new growth, so judgment upon wrongdoing clears the way for dharma's restoration.
