Abhaya, Raudrakarman, and Durvimochana — three of your sons Bhima slew with three arrows, once more. Vinda and Anuvinda together, and Suvarman, your son, the son of Kunti sent to the abode of Yama with arrows, as if smiling. Then Sudarshana, the hero, your son, O bull among the Bharatas, he pierced swiftly in battle; he fell and died.

The long roll of fallen sons — Abhaya, Vinda, Anuvinda, Suvarman, Sudarshana — is the visible reckoning for the family's wrong. It is telling that Bhima strikes "prahasann iva," as if smiling: for him the fulfillment of the oath is not ferocity but righteous requital. The verse teaches that the fruits of lawlessness overtake the whole lineage bound up in it: for a sin in which many were complicit, many perish, and the assembly that allowed the wrong reaps it together.
