नारद उवाच
ततः पितामहो दत्त्वा वरम् एतत् तदा तयोः ॥
निवर्त्य तपसस् तौ च ब्रह्मलोकं जगाम ह ॥
लब्ध्वा वराणि सर्वाणि दैत्येन्द्राव् अपि ताव् उभौ ॥
अवध्यौ सर्वलोकस्य स्वम् एव भवनं गतौ ॥

tataḥ pitāmaho dattvā varam etat tadā tayoḥ ||
nivartya tapasas tau ca brahmalokaṃ jagāma ha ||
labdhvā varāṇi sarvāṇi daityendrāv api tāv ubhau ||
avadhyau sarvalokasya svam eva bhavanaṃ gatau ||

Translation
"Then the Grandsire, having given them this boon and turned them away from their austerity, departed to the world of Brahma; having obtained all the boons, those two lords of the daityas, invulnerable to the whole world, set out for their own dwelling."

Here the asuras return, imagining themselves invincible. It is telling that, having become "invulnerable to the whole world," they consider themselves in complete safety -- forgetting the single exception. Here is revealed the self-deception of strength that forgets its own flaw. Thus the scripture shows an illusory invulnerability; and in the clause the brothers have forgotten, their ruin ripens.
