तीर्थानि शोधयित्वा तु तथानुज्ञाय ताः प्रभुः ॥
चित्राङ्गदां पुनर् द्रष्टुं मणलूरपुरं ययौ ॥
तस्याम् अजनयत् पुत्रं राजानं बभ्रुवाहनम् ॥
तं दृष्ट्वा पाण्डवो राजन् गोकर्णम् अभितो ऽगमत् ॥

Translation
Vaishampayana said: "Having purified the tirthas and released them, the lord went once more to the city of Manipura to see Chitrangada; there he begot a son, the king Babhruvahana; and having seen him, the Pandava, O king, set out for Gokarna."

Here the feat of deliverance is crowned by the purification of the shrines. It is significant that Arjuna, having delivered the apsarases, 'purifies the tirthas': freed of the predators, the shrines are again open to ascetics. Significant, too, is the birth of Babhruvahana — the fulfillment of the word given to Chitravahana. The hero's good deed restores shrines to the world, and faithfulness to one's word continues the line. Thus the scripture reveals a twofold fruit: purified tirthas and a born heir; and Arjuna continues his pilgrimage toward Gokarna.
